Dell PCT6224 High CPU usage. Large ARP table. Dropping packets.
Dell PCT6224 running 3.2.1.3.
I have 11 vlans currently setup for the switch. This switch is our routing switch between all vlans.
Each vlan is a remote physical site.
We just moved from an old Cisco router network to a dell switched network via fiber ont.
When we did it everything was working great. Now during the work day with all of our computers
on and running I am seeing high cpu that I was not seeing previously and the arp table is huge.
I'm under the assumption that those are linked. ipMapForwardingTask is the process listed below
that eats up the cpu. When the cpu hits max, we are dropping packets between vlans.
Is there a way I should relieve the cpu load on the 6224? Should I be seeing an arp entry for absolutely
every device on my network on this 6224? Is this related to proxy-arp or local-proxy-arp?
I can paste my config but it really is nothing spectacular. The vlans look exactly like this:
interface vlan 100
name VLAN100
routing
ip address 172.30.0.1 255.255.255.0
ip mtu 1500
exit
console#show arp
