Difference between switchport General and Trunk

Hello,

I've read through the user guide, "Networking Best Practices - Connecting Two Switches", and "PowerConnect Common Questions Between Access, General and Trunk mode" but I'm still unsure about the difference between 'General' and 'Trunk'.

As far as i can tell they will both do the following:

1. Allow multiple Tagged vlans

2. Allow an untagged or PVID vlan

3. Can be used as trunked ports for passing VLANs through to other switches.

Is there a general purpose for using one of the other in certain circumstances?

Regards.
