Dropped packets counter always zero?
Hi all,
I'm trying to get counter for dropped packets from PowerConnect 6224, fw 2.2.0.3.
What seems to be available is "show rmon statistics eth 1/g1" via CLI and
interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifOutDiscards.1 via SNMP.
But both of them are always zero, even in times when the interface is
overloaded and some drops certainly occur.
Any ideas - should I read some other counter or is this a bug?
Thanks, Peter

THis is a bug. My contact at Dell tells me that this will be fixed in an April firmware release.

Thanks for the confirmation. I've also checked the show statistics command and
it also doesn't display the number of dropped packets correctly:
Total Transmit Packets Discarded............... 45
Single Collision Frames........................ 18
Multiple Collision Frames...................... 27
Excessive Collision Frames..................... 0
Port Membership Discards....................... 0
Total Transmit Packets Discarded is in fact counter for Total Collisions,
and not for dropped packets.
