How to measure traffic quantity?

Actually the question what I say is different from other questions that people make inquires.

Nevertheless, I want to know my question because there's no person who teach me...

From old times, I wondered how to measure traffic

That is, I want to know measuring "Fabric Capacity"

I can easily see "Fabric Capacity" in the datasheet.

In the Dell 8024F datasheet, I found below one.

There's "Fabric Capacity up to 480Gbps".

I believe 480Gbps means traffic capacity, right?

When we choose Router or Switch, we always refer datasheet.

As I mentioned to you continually, the idea what I want to is below thing.

How to know and how to measure my traffic?

Maybe in order to measure capacity, there's a something program or another method?
