Hello hfg

There is a single image that includes the bootcode and firmware on the 62xx. You only need to perform the one update.

I haven't attempted copying a regular http address. I know that you can copy ftp, tftp, and sftp addresses. The syntax would be something like #copy ftp://firmware3.3.3 image It will copy from the ftp location to the image file store.

After you have uploaded the image to the switch you will need to designate which image to boot to. Use the #show version command to list the available images to boot from. You can then use the #boot system imageX to select the image to boot to.

After you select the new image you can reload the switch. While the switch is booting up select option 2(Start Boot Menu) during pre-boot. In that list select option 7(Update boot code). If you do not perform this step then the switch will just keep rebooting with decompression errors. If you miss the button press then just do it again on the next reload.

Once the console prompt comes available the firmware/boot code update is complete. You should then reload the switch.

Thanks

hfg-As Daniel points out, you don't NEED to use the cli for the download (dell, isn't actually an upload, especially via the web gui?:) of the new image and boot code but you'll need to get the console out anyhow so you may as well. Just grab a free tftp server from solarwinds and keep it on your machine. It's faster and unlike the web interface, I've never had it timeout of fail. Plus you can also copy your configs to your system as you make changes and it only take a moment via tftp.

Best of luck!
