Issue Booting ONIE Recovery USB on Switch S4048 ON
Hello Team,
I am attempting to recover a corrupted ONIE system on a switch by using a USB drive prepared with the ONIE recovery image.
However, when I select the USB drive as the boot device, the system fails to start and generates the following error:

@DELL-Marco B Hello;
Yes, this is the procedure I followed, but I still have the same problem. I don’t know if it’s related to the BIOS or the EFI shell, and I also can’t find the recovery PXE file on Dell’s website to test the recovery over PXE.
Regards.

First, confirm the USB is created correctly. ONIE recovery requires a bootable FAT32 USB with the ONIE installer image. Use tools like Rufus or
ddto write the image properly—simply copying files won’t work.Massili

@YashSmith “The USB has been tested on another switch, and it works fine; but still having the same error on that switch

@DELL-Marco B additional information:
When I prepare a USB drive with the official ONIE image for the S4048-ON, Rufus only allows me to create the media in Legacy/MBR mode. The switch tries to boot, but I encounter errors and ONIE does not start.
However, when I test using the ONIE image for a Dell EMC S4100 (which targets the same Intel C2338 CPU), Rufus allows me to prepare the USB in UEFI + GPT mode, and the switch successfully boots into ONIE.
Unfortunately, I cannot proceed with the installation because the image is not for my model (S4048-ON).
This leads me to believe that the official ONIE image for the S4048-ON does not support UEFI boot, while the hardware itself seems to accept it.
