N3048 or S3148

Hello,

I'm planning on replacing our PC6248. Our Dell rep proposed to go for a N4000 but I found it to expensive so I figure I can go for either a N3048 or a S3148. But I'm not sure how much different they are from each other. The S3148 has 2GB CPU Memory and the N3048 has 1GB CPU Memory. Other than that they seem to be quite equal? They have the same Forwarding rate, Fabric capacity, Flash mem and Packet buffer memory.

I guess I'm after what the big difference are between this two. Any advice?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply

So other than the differences of the commands, are there any differences in features, performance, stability?

I'm intending of using the switch as a core switch. InterVLAN Routing, LAG portgroups to ESXi hosts, couple of Layer 2 vlans, ACL's and stuff like that. All other underlying switches are currently PC5500's

Thanks Dan

I just want to confirm some another things here also,

1. Is a SFP+ port "backward compatible" E.g. Can I have a 1Gbs Transceiver in a SFP+ port?

2. Can I use the transceivers from my PC6248 on the N3048? I have both 1Gbs and 10Gbs Transceivers. My 10Gbs SFP+ Transceviers are Dell branded FTLX1471D3BCL

I just looked at my 1Gb transceivers and they are FTLF8519P2BNL. Will those work on the N3048 and/or S3148 as well?

Oh, and while I'm at it, will the expansion module from the PC6248 fit in the N3048 or/and S3148?? It has DP/N 0U691D

Is there a compatibility list where I can check this kind of stuff in the future?
