N3048 Web Interface Access Without OOB

I have recently had our switch replaced via RMA and have access to the web interface via oob. I am unsure of how to get access from other ports and subnets and would like access to the web interface from outside of the server room. It is probably something very obvious, but I no longer have the original switch to check the setup. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

If you do not have the OOB configured you can access the switch through any VLAN IP address. http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/HOW10399/EN

“You can manage the switch through any reachable VLAN IP address.”

If the switch has no configuration you are going to need to use the local console to configure it. Page 136 http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_networking/esuprt_net_fxd_prt_swtchs/networking-n3000-series_Administrator%20Guide3_en-us.pdf

You can use in-band or oob to gain management access from inside or outside the server room.  The oob port is a completely separate network used for management only, but you can also use an in-band port for management.  By default, VLAN 1 is typically used in-band to carry management traffic.  If you set an IP address on VLAN 1 you should also be able to manage it from that IP address.  Steps would be to set the IP address on VLAN 1, ping it remotely to test connectivity, then use your browser to connect to the web UI.  You should be able to use the same username/password that was used for the oob port.  Without a username/password set, the web UI will not allow the session.

Would configuring VLAN 1 with the same IP as the OOB cause a conflict?
