needs tips for troubleshooting high error counts on a 5224
I have a 5224 at the center of my network. Has our servers and a number of other switches connected to it.
Of it's 24 ports 7 ports have what I'd consider very high numbers of CRC and or fragmented packet errors in the counters.
Have an additional 10 ports that have noticeable but fairly small numbers of the same kind of errors.
None of the rest of the switches in my network (which includes Dell 3348, Dell 5212 and a bunch of Cisco 3524 and 2924 switches) have anywhere near this level of "errors."
We are checking cables, updating nic drivers and in some cases upgrading nics, but this many errors on so many different ports on one switch make me wonder if there isn't a problem with the switch.
So, any troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You are on the right track by verifying cable integrity, and troubleshooting the NICs.
The best troubleshooting step to take in order to verify whether the problem is related to the switch would be to move one of these problematic systems to a port that does not exhibit errors and move a working system with no errors to one of the suspect ports. If the errors follow the system, then the switch would not be the source of the problem.
