Network "Weirdness"
I have a work network consisting of 9 PowerConnect switches, 2 2724's, 3 2824's, 2 2624's, 1 2748 and 1 2616. Since the 2 2624's and the 2616 are unmanaged switches this complicates things. The network "weirdness" is that we are having delays reaching servers, the Internet connection will drop and the Network Connection shows the computer is attached to a unidentified network instead of showing it connected to a Domain. This issue will usually resolve itself only if you reboot the computer. When the computer is showing that its attached to a unidentified network and I run the troubleshooting on it it says it can't reach the DNS server. I try to ping the DNS server and it reaches it but it is delayed. On the managed switches I am not seeing any errors and I have tested all the network cables on the servers and they look fine. What should I try next??? Thanks!

Thanks for the post! Yes all the managed switches are running the most current firmware and the server nics are running updated drivers. I have moved computers/servers to different ports but I so far have not found any kind of pattern. I have one user who has aen.community.dell.com/.../20148402.aspx laptop with a docking station who was having the connected to unidentified network problem today. She mentioned it started happening a week or so ago and she usually just reboots and then it comes up ok. But today she rebooted and it still would not connect successfully. I unsuccessfully tried plugging the network cable directly into the laptop bypassing the docking station, replacing the cable, replacing the cable at the switch, using a different port on another switch and unplugging the network cable and using our wireless network. None of these worked but after 3 or 4 reboots it magically started working again. I would say its just a issue with that laptop but it has happened to other computers and we are having delays pinging some servers today. Thanks for the link on Open Manage Network Manager I will give that a look.
