at the moment we are working at a project to connect two or more locations with VXLAN. Our current setup defines every Server as a VTEP. These are Linux-Servers an we can use either ovs or iproute2 to create VXLANs interfaces for the containers.
Also we must use Unicast with several endpoints and cannnot use multicast VXLAN.
In this scenario every VTEP knows all other VTEPs. If we add another VTEP we need to configure all other VTEPs.
Every server is connected to a S4148F-On switch with OS10. We tried to use the VXLAN configuration with no success so far.
Our idea would be, that the VTEPs on one location only knows the switch as vtep and a switch only knows all vteps on this location and all other switches.
However if we are trying to add a linux remote-vtep, the State is down. We have the following configuration as an example:
Linux-Server VTEP1 has the ip address 172.29.255.1/16, there is a VXLAN interface configured with ip 172.30.1.1/16
The loopback interface on the switch has the address 172.29.255.11/16 (as far as we understand this is the vtep address). We add the remote-vtep in the virtual network but the state is down (show nve remote-vtep summary).
Is that configuration even possible? Maybe you have a hint where to look, thank you.
