Port Based Authentication: Admin Interface Control Usage

This is also known as dot1xAuthAuthControlledPortControl in SNMP.

The problem is, I can disable a port (g9, specifically) using this field with forceUnauthorize so that ping no longer goes through the port.  However, when I try to reenable using forceAuthorize, ping still does not work even though the field now shows forceAuthorize.  This same technique works on another vendor's switch.  I have to reboot the switch to get it to work.  Am I using this wrong or is there a problem in the firmware?

When you forceAuth on the port did you read back the associated status to see what it was?  Can you tell me what "dot1xAuthAuthControlledPortStatus" say after you forceAuth the port?

dot1xAuthAuthControlledPortStatus tracks dot1xAuthAuthControlledportControl, so it went back to authorized.  However, ping did not start working as expected.

Hi can you tell us which switch you observed this problem on?  We would like to try to reproduce it.

Thanks,

Just wanted to let you know that I reported this as a bug to the developing team.  It will be fixed in a future release.
