If you are trying to share your cable modem connection, you will need a cable/DSL router that implements NAT (Network Address Translation) to hide the internal addresses from the external address provided by your ISP. You can purchase one of these routers from most computer stores. They typically include a 4-port switch and you can uplink the PowerConnect switch to the router using one of the switch ports on the router and any port on the PowerConnect switch.

Depending on the router, you may need to use a crossover cable to connect the PowerConnect switch to the router.

Hi, Greg, will this work on a Powerconnect 2608 + TrueMobile 2350 (wired 10/100 4 port NAT + wireless broadband router)?
Would I need straight CAT 5e/6 or crossover CAT 5e/6?
Thx.
