Well I sorted out the speed issue at least. seems both my connections at the switch were bad. Once I changed them out, I got the 1GB speed. Now I just have to sort out why neither of the powerconnects are allowing me to go into managed mode. It just goes solid green on the indicator and stay there. I can still connect to the switch as though it were in unmanaged mode though, which just makes it even weirder.
Even with the managed mode light on, (it goes from off to steady and never reboots itself when you press the button), it does not connect to the default 192.168.2.1, and if you restart it, it goes back into unmanaged mode. Basically, neither switch will go into managed mode. Even with the light on, (managed), they still run in unmanaged mode. Each switch is also connected to its own nic card on the server, and even when connected to nothing, they still won't do the managed mode.
They are both on the 255.255.255.0 subnet, and neither is on the .2.1 network, one nic is 192.168.0.1, and the other is 192.168.3.1. Both work for those in unmanaged. I will try the firmware update when I have some downtime. How do you flash to the device if its unmanaged?
Ahhh, so basically, I am setting the nic to what the default ip would be if the switch were actually in managed mode, thus allowing me to access the managed mode software via a browser. I'll give that a shot, thanks.
Quick question, will I have to adjust my dhcp scope to include the .2.1 in the address list? Right now, I have them set up to deal with .2 to .254, leaving the .1 for the actual nic card.
