PowerConnect 3024 Help

Hello, I recently purchased 2 PowerConnect 3024 Switches in AS IS condition. I was told that the switches might need to be reset. After some research in this forum, I found the instructions on how to reset them, but the main thing is that I don't know how to telnet into the switch via the Console Port. I am using Windows XP and when I connect the switch via Console Port using Serial Interface with the HyperTerminal Program, I can see the switch booting up and it comes up to a Enter Password: Prompt, but the thing is that I cannot type anything, or whatever I type doesn't go through, can anyone please help me with this. I will really appreciate your help.

Thank you,

The slimmed-down version of hyperterminal packaged with Windows XP has known emulation problems. I would suggest downloading Hyperterminal Private Edition from Hilgraeve at the following link:

If you are able to input a password but the password is not recognized, you will need to follow the Password Recovery Procedure outlined in the following forum thread:

If you are able to see the text from the terminal session but the session will not accept your input, try another terminal emulation program and/or another null modem cable. If a straight-through serial cable is used, you will typically see output but no input will be accepted. This will cause the same symptom.
