PowerConnect 3424 as dumb switch

My company has bought 2 of these and while we are learing about one of them, we are thinking about using the other one as a dumb switch until we are comfortable of using it as it's supposed to be. Is there anything we need to do in order to use it as a dumb switch or is it just plug and play? Also, what is the default configuration of the switch?
