powerconnect 5212 - reset password?
Hi,
I need to reset the password on a PowerConnect 5212. I am logged into the console and can only login as guest. I can view info, but not change anything.
No one knows the admin password. I need to reset the switch to factory defaults and no one has a user id with the rights to do it. There doesn't appear to be a "reset pin hole" switch on the 5212's like there is for the powerconnect 2700 series switches.
Is there anyway to reset to factory defaults?
thanks,
Mike

Mike,
For security reasons I'm not going to post the procedure here. But you can call into support at (800)822-8965 x7269404. Have the service tag handy, and give that to the call director. Make sure you have physical access to the switch when you call. Any PowerConnect support specialist should be able to walk you through defaulting the switch.

What about if your warranty or service contract with Dell has expired? I have the same problem with a 3024 i just purchased on the internet. No one seems to remember the password and i need to get in and set it up.
Thanks
