PowerConnect 5524P and 5524 Two-switch Stack
I have a new PowerConnect 5524P and PowerConnect 5524 that I am trying to stack with the Dell 0.3m HDMI cable. They are both at SW Version 4.1.0.16 and Boot version 1.0.0.14. I am trying to make the 5524P the master and then add the 5524 to the stack. When I add the 5524 to the stack, it shuts down the 5524P and takes over as the master. The 5524P ends up with all its LED lights lite (ports all green, status red, and ID set to 8. I have tried making the 5524 the master and then stacking the 5524P, but no go. In addition, the only way I have found to get back to the wizard in the serial interface, is to enter the command "delete startup-config" and then reloading. I have tried hitting the delete key when the Dell logo shows up in the serial interface, tried the web interface to reset the device, and held the hardware reset button in for 7 seconds. None of those seem to do anything. Any help is appreciated.

I am onsite today at another customer. Will need to install switches tomorrow and will just patch them in, if I can not solve it by tomorrow. I will check the logs and see if I find something. How do I refresh the firmware? Is that the .rfb boot file? I tried updating that file similar to the software image file, but it failed. Couldn't do it before on other good stack switches, so maybe I don't know how to do it. Is there an article reference for this that you can provide? Also, I do have two HDMI cables, but same result with each. Thank you for the reply.

Are my software and boot versions up-to-date (see first blog entry)? And if the boot version needs to be updated or if you think I need to re-flash it, then let me know, please. Also, I am assuming that the boot file is the .rfb file. Is that correct? The PDF xmodem section only talks about the .ros file. Can you update the boot that way? The software version was just updated on both units and I don't think that is my problem. Maybe one of the HDMI ports are bad on one of the units. Just at a loss, but will check the logs tomorrow.
