Powerconnect 7048r Dropping Router
we currently have stacked Powerconnects 7048r on our network connected to a Sonicwall NSA 3500 on port gi1/0/45 and gi1/0/43 that
keep getting dropped every couple of hours, after seeing all the spanning tree msg's I tried turning it off on those ports only but to no avail. Any suggestions as to
why these ports would keep failing? to much congestion? Thanks alot

How are you connecting to the Sonicwall? Layer 2 or 3.
Can you provide the running configuration for ports gi1/0/45 and gi1/0/43? Are they meant to be in LAG or separate redundant connections?

here is my startup config for those two interfaces, port 43 is strictly for management, where port 45 is our acually connection to the router, it currently isnt setup as a lag.
interface Gi1/0/43
spanning-tree disable
spanning-tree mst 0 cost 20000
spanning-tree cost 20000
exit
!
interface Gi1/0/45
spanning-tree disable
spanning-tree mst 0 cost 20000
spanning-tree cost 20000
Here are the results from show interfaces switchport
Port: Gi1/0/45
VLAN Membership mode:General Mode
Operating parameters:
PVID: 700
Ingress Filtering: Enabled
Acceptable Frame Type: Admit All
Default Priority: 0
GVRP status:Disabled
Protected:Disabled
Port Gi1/0/45 is member in:
VLAN Name Egress rule Type
---- --------------------------------- ----------- --------
1 default Untagged Default
300 Data Untagged Static
700 Sonicwall Untagged Static
Static configuration:
PVID: 700
Ingress Filtering: Enabled
Acceptable Frame Type: Admit All
Port: Gi1/0/43
VLAN Membership mode:Access Mode
Operating parameters:
PVID: 1
Ingress Filtering: Enabled
Acceptable Frame Type: Untagged
Default Priority: 0
GVRP status:Disabled
Protected:Disabled
Port Gi1/0/43 is member in:
VLAN Name Egress rule Type
---- --------------------------------- ----------- --------
1 default Untagged Default

Can you explain more about what you mean when you say port 43 is for management? Is it connected to the Sonicwall?
Is the Sonciwall aware of the VLANS that you have on the Powerconnect?
Is the port on the Sonicwall set up as a switchport accepting the VLANs on the PowerConnect?
When connecting 2 routers together we need an isolated network in between the routers.
On the powerconnect you would accomplish this with creating a VLAN specifically for that connection. Set an IP on that VLAN that is in the same subnet as the Port on the Sonicwall. Then set port 45 on the PowerConnect as an access switchport for that VLAN only.
