Resetting Power Connects
I have numerous Power Connect 2024's, 2724's, and 3324's that were pulled from our network in almost new condition. Our System Admin. left and we had no way of knowing the login.
How do I do a hardware reset on each of these devices so that I may program them?
Thanks.

I believe the 2024s are not managed switches so there is no configuration on them.
The 27XXs can run in either managed or unmanaged mode. The managed mode light will be lit if running in managed mode. To switch between managed and unmanaged mode and to also reset the switch, depress the button on the right hand side of the switch for about five seconds. To access the switch via web browser the IP address is 192.168.2.1 and the username is Admin with no password.
I do not know about the 3324s.

I can get to a password prompt but it will not accept admin and no password. It will not accept admin and Admin for the password. Sometimes it tells me error - bad password; others times it does not.
I have tried depressing the Managed Mode button until the light goes out and then pressing it again until the light comes back on. The Link/Ack lights flash. But I cannot get in.
I am using 192.168.2.1 and configured the PC on 192.168.2.2. I am using a straight through CAT5.

This is getting to be just plain silly now.
Could someone please give me the PROPER directions for resetting a 2724? I have read page after page and each says something different. Some say the password is Admin while others say that it is admin. Some say drepss the managed mode button until the lights go out; and then some unplug it and it should come back in unmanaged mode. Then turn management back on.
None of this is working and you can tell that I am getting frustrated.
Thanks for bearing with me.

Thank you for the reply.
I also found that one must remove Avast Anti-virus or face frustration. That was keeping me from logging into the 2724's.

On the 2724 check whether the managed mode light is on or off; if its off, then the switch is in simple mode - to switch it to managed press the managed mode button once; the switch will recycyle, takes around 60 seconds - and now will load with default address 192.168.2.1 , UID admin, blank password.
If its the LED is on already, reverse the procedure, switch should come up with the managed mode LED off.
You might find the problems with logging on to be your browser settings - I've had similar problems.
In the end, I found that an alternate browser - I used Netscape -newly loaded with no settings worked fine.
To reset the password on the 3324, you will need to connect your PC to the console port using a DB9 serial cable - one would have come with the switch; its a DB9<>DB9 female both ends, straight thru.
Using Hyperterminal or whatever, settings are 9600,8,N,1 with flow control disabled.
Once you've got it connected, see if you can connect - its likely that authentiification hasn't been enabled on the console port - if you can then
en
del start
reload
the switch will reboot
then
en
configure
username xxxxxx password yyyyyy level 15
interface vlan 1
ip address a.a.a.a 255.255.255.0 ( or whatever )
exit
exit
copy run start
reload
the switch will reboot with a new UID, password and IP address.
Now if the console port has been set with authentication, then
With the hyperterminal session live, powercycyel the switch, and watch the loadup description.
Yo will see it do a power on self test , immediatley the POST ends, it will say
Autoboot in 2 seconds - press RETURN or Esc. to abort and enter
prom.
at this point, you only have 2 seconds, hit return, and it will display a boot menu with 6 options
Option 4 is the password recovery option, so select 4.
you then reboot the switch, and using the console cable connection set a new UID and password and IP address as described above.
