Which model switch are you using?

We are using a Dell PowerConnect 3524P in all buildings for our cameras.

Yes, the ports are the right are the gigabit ports for the uplink. The other ports are 10/100.

Right, so is there a way for me to check those ports and see if they are still active or if they are fried?

Do they show that they are up on their status? You could try connecting something else to them and seeing if you can get a connection.
