Unable to ping PowerConnect 3324

Hi,

I had configured PowerConnect 3324 to allow VLAN 2 (data only). IP address is set for VLAN 2 interface. All switchports by-default have mode acces to VLAN 1. The fact is I cannot even ping this IP address from network, and of course telnet and management thru web are failed. But all client connected to this switch are able to grab VLAN 2 dynamic IP.

Moving forward, I changed uplink switchport access to VLAN 2, leaving others to VLAN 1. I was able to ping the mentioned IP, but clients couldn't get dynamic IP. At the end, only by changed all switchport access to VLAN 2 resolved this issue. Is this the way 3324 works?

Another question is physically 3324 has 24 ethernet ports plus 2 gig ports, but using sh run command, it displayed 48 ethernet ports. Why?
