update cpld command works with Unit index.
Hi.
Is there a reason why Dell suggests to execute cpld updates using a serial connection if this command works with Unit Indexes?. Example:
SWCORE_10_MAO#show version 1 SOC Version....................... BCM56340_A0 HW Version........................ 5 CPLD Version...................... 20 Boot Version...................... Not Available unit active backup current-active next-active ---- ----------- ----------- -------------- -------------- 1 6.5.3.6 6.3.1.8 6.5.3.6 6.5.3.6 SWCORE_10_MAO#show version 2 SOC Version....................... BCM56340_A0 HW Version........................ 5 CPLD Version...................... 13 Boot Version...................... Not Available unit active backup current-active next-active ---- ----------- ----------- -------------- -------------- 2 6.5.3.6 6.3.1.8 6.5.3.6 6.5.3.6 SWCORE_10_MAO#update cpld 2 This operation will reset the switch on completion. Are you sure you would like to update the CPLD? (y/n) y Management switch has unsaved changes. Would you like to save the changes? (y/n).y Configuration Saved! Issuing CPLD update command...
After the update:
SWCORE_10_MAO#show version Machine Description............... Dell EMC Networking Switch System Model ID................... N3048P Machine Type...................... Dell EMC Networking N3048P Serial Number..................... CN0FKJ362829862M0496A05 Manufacturer...................... 0xbc00 Burned In MAC Address............. F8B1.566F.0871 System Object ID.................. 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.3060 SOC Version....................... BCM56340_A0 HW Version........................ 5 CPLD Version...................... 20 Image File........................ N3000AdvLitev6.5.3.6 Software Capability............... Stack Limit = 8, VLAN Limit = 1024 unit active backup current-active next-active ---- ----------- ----------- -------------- -------------- 1 6.5.3.6 6.3.1.8 6.5.3.6 6.5.3.6 2 6.5.3.6 6.3.1.8 6.5.3.6 6.5.3.6
Why this information seems to be "secret", that you can update one cpld at the time using unit indexes? It's not the first time i'm doing this, and it seems to work fine inside 6.3 and 6.5 versions of this firmware.

Hi,
Where are you seeing that as the recommended method? In the current firmware the manual for the update shows the method you described.
