Windows 98 & Netware 6 PowerConnect 3324

I moved away from some 3Com hubs and moved to PowerConnect 3324 switch. All of the Windows XP / 2000 machines work fine login to the novell network, access the Internet no problem.

The Windows 98 machines however, can ping the server no problem, can access the Internet no problem but cannot log into the server. Sees the tree but cannot locate a context nor a server.
???.

I have plugged a hub back into the switch and moved the W98 machines back to the hub and all works fine. ???.

Additional info: W98 machines are two different computer types. have upgraded 3com NIC drivers to latest, re-installed Novell client, messed around with different media access speeds (10 MB Half Duplex, 100 MB Full Duplex, etc)

Any ideas appreciated.

On the 3324 enable Portfast via the console, or Fastlink via the GUI.

I think the Novell client is trying to access the Novel network before the switch is putting the ports into forwarding.  By default the switch will leave the ports in a blocking state for a few seconds upon a link up.  I imagine the W98 boxes are booting faster than the XP/2000 boxes?

From the command line:
#config
(config)#interface ethernet 1/e(port number)
(config-if)#span portfast
