1180 Mini-PCI Upgrade to G???

When 802.11G first came out I remember a Dell moderator saying that there would be an update to make the 1180 Mini-PCI card compatible, as in G speed capable. I didn't think this was possible. Nothing has happened since then. Can I upgrade my 802.11b card to 802.11b/g. I am not talking about physical modifications, only software.

That is highly doubtful. If you could find the moderator's post, I'd be more likely to believe it. I'm almost positive the hardware as well as the software has to support it.

xOlliex,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

It was true, I thought that you could update 802.11 A & B hardware to the G standard.  I later found out that the G standard requires hardware changes as well as firmware updates.  You cannot upgrade an 802.11 A or B device to the G standard.
