13 in 1 Bluetooth mediacard reader driver ? ( dimension 9200)

Hello all. I had to reinstall my vista after a harddisk crash, so now i am looking for the 13 in 1 Bluetooth mediacard driver to my dimension 9200. The cd with all the common drivers from dell is not working for me. is there anywhere i can download it from ? I tried to search the driver and download page, but I couldn't find it... Please help, as i want to get bluetooth again. bret

I too am looking for a driver for this "13 in 1 Media Card Reader Bluetooth", but I have removed Vista from my Dimension 9200 and put XP Pro (SP2) on there.

The link you suggested was for Vista only.  Is there an XP driver for this module?  Or have I bought a useless waste of electricity?

Also, I currently have drivers missing for "BT Mini-receiver" (which I assume is the Bluetooth part of the "13 in 1...Bluetooth" device) and "SM Bus Controller".  Any ideas what this 2nd device is?  Is it part of the same "13 in 1...Bluetooth" physical device?

Cheers,

Nigel

Please refer to this FAQ about the drivers.

That didn't really help at all.  For a start that is a "Vista" FAQ. Unless your intention was to say "its not supported", in which case it would have been easier to just type that.

All I want to know is:

a) are there XP drivers available from Dell for the bluetooth part of the 13-in-1 reader,
b) if not, can I get them somewhere else (in which case, who makes it?),
c) what is the "SM Bus Controller" I am also missing a driver for, and is it related to the card reader?

Thanks,

Nigel

ndsykes,

Sorry you did not find it helpful. Here's what I was trying to point out though. Since you system originally came with Vista the 13 in 1 Bluetooth mediacard may only be validated with Vista driver on that system and not with XP drivers. If you will look under the Vista drivers you will find this device under network devices; however, if you switch it to XP the device is not listed there. According to the FAQ:

In order to make it easier for customers to choose the operating system option they are looking for, we are now only displaying the operating systems that are supported on the platform in question.

Because of this you may want to follow the following suggestion that was in the FAQ:

If it happens that the OS that you're looking for does not have the drivers you need then this may help you find the drivers. As this paragraph indicates you can look on the vendor's site or even in the Windows Download Center. If you are looking for a driver for a product and/or operating system that’s not listed it’s possible that the combination is not available from Dell. Alternatively you can try the device vendor or go to the Windows Download Center.

Although it may very well be possible to use this device on this system with XP you will probably need to look at the vendor site to see if the driver is there or it may be at the Windows Download Center.

Thanks for the further assistance, but it still hasn't answered most of my questions, which were:

a) are there XP drivers available from Dell for the bluetooth part of the 13-in-1 reader,
b) if not, can I get them somewhere else (in which case, who makes it?),
c) what is the "SM Bus Controller" I am also missing a driver for, and is it related to the card reader?

OK - the inference is that the answer to a) is NO.  In which case, sure, I can go look elsewhere for a driver, but in that case I think I will need some idea of a manufacturer and/or model number.  Since this device was built-in by Dell at purchase time I have no idea what it really is.  I don't think that "13-in-1 Media Card Reader Bluetooth" is specific enough for me to find the correct driver if such actually exists.  Hence my question b).

And I still need an answer to question c), which may or may not be related to the above.

Any further help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nigel

ndsykes,

You are correct. For question a) there are no drivers for this device for the XP OS. For question b) you can probably find them at the MFG. I have my desktop Liaison checking on who the MFG is for this device, I think it may be a TEAC, but he'll probably post back with the MFG when he has it, but in the mean time you may want to ask the Desktop General Hardware forum. I believe the users of the Desktop General Hardware will be able to help you find the correct XP driver for this device.

The SM Bus Controller is part of the chipset to get this corrected you need to install this driver.

ndsykes,

I have now confirmed with my Desktop Liaison that the 13-in-1 media card reader is manufactured by TEAC. Good luck.

Just for everyone else's information - I finally found a way to get the bluetooth working under XP - download and extract the files from R152639.EXE (which is actually for Vista), then go to Control Panel|System|Harware|Device Manager, select "BT Mini-Receiver" and update the driver.  Select the Win32 directory in the extracted files as the location of the driver.  What do you know - it works!
