46-NPQE is Driving me batty.

I just installed the new AOL Security Edition and it did something to McAfee.

Now I can't access the DSL connection.  It keeps coming up "Error 46-NPQE" and then it says that there is a firewall preventing access.

I've tried to locate McAfee on the program list but it's no longer there.

When I got to uninstall the program it won't uninstall because it says that the McAfee "log" can't be found.

The new AOL Security Center says "McAfee fire wall discovered, unknown status."

There is no McAfee security center any more.

Is this nonsense a Dell glitch, a McAfee glitch or an AOL glitch?  Or maybe just a poltergeist?

First of all, all CAPS is yelling. That being said, have you tried to uninstall the AOL security center, then do a system Restore. If that does not work try to reinstall a backup, assuming you do backups. Once your system is back to normal then reinstall AOL, doing a custom install, setting limitations on the software.

I just spoke with AOL.  If the quick connectivity fix doesn't work , they say I have to reinstall/repair winsock which means I will lose connectivity to DSL or Cable.  Uh-Oh.  is there a workaround?
