4700 network connection problem

Question

hi friends, for some reason i cannot use internet on my 4700 system anymore.  The connection is there, but the browser will not connect under regular mode.  However, on safe mode with networking, everything works just fine.  Im thinking there might be a software conflict somewhere, and tried to restore the system to the earliest point, but that didnt fix the problem.  I have not installed any new software for quite sometimes now, nor updated anything during the last 2 weeks.  My firewall is also turned off.  I tried uninstalling a bunch of softwares but nothign is changed.   what could possibly went wrong here?

forgot to mention, under regular mode, after a restart I was able to connect to yahoo.com, but it takes about 30 seconds to load the page.  Then, like a minute later, the browser connection just completely vanished.  this has to be the weirdest problem i have ever encountered.  please advise!!

thanks Steve!   well, i downloaded mcAfee 30 days trial version, scanned, found and removed a trojan that seem to be blocking my connection, so everything works fine now.  I have always been underestimated the functionality of an antivirus software until today.  mcAfee rocks!!

It is obvious that something is running in the background in Windows.  Background programs don't load in Safe Mode.   I would suggest that you go Here and follow the directions to download and run the analysis tool called HijackThis. Generate a log file, then open it and copy and paste the text of the log file in a message in the HijackThis forum where a HijackThis expert can offer advice on how to fix the problem.   Steve
