600m will not connect either nic or wireless
I just got my 600m today, and neither the wireless or the nic can get an ip from my LinkSys 802.11b router. My 600m has:
1) Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller
2) Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini PCI Adapter
At bootup, they're ip's hang at 0.0.0.0 for about a minute or so, then they just kick back to their own 169.x address. WHAT'S UP?!

Try going to
Control Panel> Network Connections > Wireless Connection OR Broadcom Connection
Right click and go to properties then highlight TCP/IP click properties again then click Advanced Highlight WIN and click Enable Netbios over TCP/IP apply then close
If it works go back to the same place and click the Default Netbios option once you obtain the IP.
If not Do what Jim told me to do
Unplug the Modem wait about 5MIN then plug it back in.

I'm going to try what you suggested tonight - thx for the quick response.
In the meantime, my 'new' Inspiron came with ancient drivers dated June 2003 for both network cards previously mentioned. There are very recent driver updates for both the Broadcom 570 Gigabit NIC and the IntelPRO 2100 3A Mini PCI...I updated the driver on the Broadcom, and it worked. Using that connection, I ran all Windows updates. The new drivers on the Intel still didn't work. I rebooted my router and shut my cable off, my router off, turned the modem back on, waited for green lights, turned the router back on, ran the system recovery disk's software having anything to do w/ the IntelPRO 2100, it may or may not have reverted to the old drivers, it was so late I didn't check, but...it did work. So I do have both back in action now.
Long story short, I think if you have a failed connection attempt on either card, then 1) updating to new drivers, followed by 2) rebooting of your modem and router should do the trick for both.
Again, I'm going to play w/ the settings you mentioned tonight.
p.s. It does appear, however, that Dell Quickset, IntelPRO utility, and Windows Zero Config are all competing with eachother on who gets to manage the wireless! I'm tempted to nuke the IntelPRO and DellQuickset all together and just do it the old fashioned Windows way. Hmmm.....
