600m with intel 2100 - router choice?
Hi i am completely stumped as to what type of router i should get to work with my 600m, so that i can utilize the wireless modem.
Any suggestions?
Also how far from the modem do most routers allow you to get?
And also my roommates that have desktops would like to be able to connect at the same time - right now i am hogging the normal modem?
Thanks for helping a clueless girl.

Okay, there is no such thing as a wireless modem, you can have a dual system wchich contain both a modem and a router but a modem will either be hard wired to a DSL or cable connection and a router would then physically connect to the modem therby giving you wireless capability.
I always recommend Linksys products for my customers but Netgear has a slick feature that will send you an e-mail if your router gets port scanned. If you not as paranoid as me about security, then either would be fine.

I got a linksys 802.11 b router
Works great
Easy setup
Just look for the one at best buy with the Centrino approved logo on it

I wouldn't push it beyond 100 ft but it all depends on what the line of sight is. If you have no obstuctions in your path, I seen 802.11b routers extend to about 200 yards on a clear line of sight.
