Accessing files via my wireless router

Is this a new problem or have you been able to do this before, but it suddenly stopped working?  Which version(s) of Windows is/are involved?  Is File and Printer Sharing enabled on all computers?  Have drivers and/or folders been designated as shared resources?  Have all third party firewalls been configured to allow local network access?  Have you read the Posts concerning Windows networking prominantly posted at the top of this forum?

Yes, it's a new issue.  I can't access my files or use my shared printer.  I've never had to provide a password before to access my networked computer.  Happens on both of my PCs.

I'm on Windows XP.

 

I haven't read all the posts, but I never had issues before.  Seems like it's something that got set recently that I'm unaware of.  If I could disable the guest account or the security window, that would be ideal.

simply supply the username and password of the pc that your trying to access... then you can enter to it... or you can also use the default username for XP/Vista its: Administrator and it dont have any password...

Does the problem occur there?  Did you enable the Guest Account?  It is very unsafe to do so, it should work without the Guest Account enabled. What other things have you changed?  Did you add any user accounts or change any user accounts?

 

 Boot the computers to Safe Mode with Network Support.  If the problem goes away in Safe Mode, then it tells you that something running from Normal Startup is causing the problem (most likely a firewall).

Problem is the username is grayed out (guest is in the username field) and all I'm asked for is the password..supplying the name of the computer I'm trying to access doesn't work.  I've tried....

if thats the case check your pc if the Guest is enabled their.. make sure you turn it off/disable if then try to acccess your network once again...
