This worked for me and I am running Windows 7 on a Dell D810.

Go to Control Panel....Network and Sharing Center....Change Adapter Settings.    Then, right click on the wireles connection and click on Diagnose.

It seemed to turn the WiFi on for me...as I can't get my Function F2 combination to work either.

Hope it works for you guys too.

 DellAde,

Make sure the wireless adapter is enabled in the BIOS, press F2 at the Dell Screen

Make sure the wireless adapter is enabled in the device manager, network.

Make sure the wireless adapter is enabled in the Windows Mobility Center.

It is enabled both in BIOS and in the device manager, but not in the Windows Mobility Center. And in that, the option to enable it is not available.

 DellAde,

Do you see the button to turn on the Bluetooth?

Hi Ade,

Try this method out and let me know if it works

In BIOS, switch the functionality of the Multimedia keys.

Once changed you can use the 'F2' Option alone to activate your Wifi, once its done, then you can change the options back in BIOS.

Hi!

Got to admit, I can't find that option in BIOS. Where is it supposed to be? Or is it that one where you define whether Fn + F2 activates only Wifi / only Bluetooth / both? In that case, it's not working.

@ PudgyOne: No, I cannot see the field for Bluetooth.

Ade,

Let's backup a minute. Did you install/upgrade the computer to Windows 7?

Try running Finding System Information remove your product ID and post the rest of the information back here.

Hm, think the problem is not really a software problem, since it's been working fine with the keyboard. But will do that anyways and inform you bout the outcome in an edit in a while!

DellAde,

The wireless adapters were enabled in the BIOS, correct?

Are the adapters enabled in the Device Manager?

Do you see anything in the Device Manager, like yellow exclaimination marks or red x's?

Try reading this thread, it may help.

Dell Wireless 1300/1350/1370/1390/1395/1397/1400/1450/1470/1490/1500/1505/1510/1520 WLAN (Broadcom 43xx chip-based) cards, quickest and easiest solutions

"The wireless adapters were enabled in the BIOS, correct?"

Correct.

"Are the adapters enabled in the Device Manager?"

Yes, they are.

"Do you see anything in the Device Manager, like yellow exclaimination marks or red x's?"

Nothing like that.

In fact, if you want to "simulate" this situation on another computer, just turn of the WiFi using Fn+F2 and then try switching it on without the Fn-Key (using the Fn or ScrollLock of another keyboard is "allowed", but didn"t work for me).

Thanks for the help so far, will read through the link and try those suggestions. If it helps, I'll post it here, if not I'll just remain quiet.
