Almost returned notebook because of slow wireless
Called Tech support to find out why the network was painfully slow when not plugged into AC power, they claimed it was by design and you should only use battery as a secondary power source, that most of the times you should be plugged into AC.
I cannot believe that first they would say something like that to a notebook mobile user.
I got the number for Dell returns because my HP does not have this problem, and could work with wireless slower than dial-up.
I decided to search the forums here, and found out there is a setting in the advanced area of the wireless network card, moving this over to the right to maximum power solved all problems.
I think part of Dell's tech support strategy should be to check the message boards in addition to their internal documentation.
