My screen some times closes when i am in the middle of something. sometimes it's the IE others i am in control panel. I think it is my firewall, but i can't acces my firewall setting because i get an error message that my ifc ( internet firewall connection) cannot be turned on. Please help.

Have you checked your system for viruses and spyware? If not, you should do so now and you should check for spyware with several different programs, as there is no single anti spyware program that gets rid of all of this garbage.

You don't mention shutdown so I assume it is only the application (or pane) that closes, not the whole computer.
Which Dell computer is it, by the way ?
