BCM V.92 56K Modem Insprion 8600
Hello, I have the following big problem with my modem:
I´m using a telephone line where i have to dial a zero to get a dial tone.
whatever i try, the modem does not dial becaue "the line is busy".
i tried to put a "0" before the dialing number (this works with other notebooks on my telephone line),
i tried "," so that the modem waits to dial the rest of the number to get a dial tone, but nothing worked.
I don´t get a dial tone, whatever i try, it fails. Exception: When i dial the number with a ";" at the end of the number,
then the modem dials, but then does not connect to data mode.
why is that? it only dials when i put a ";" at the end of the dialing number, but when i do that, i´ll never get online...
(i also reinstalled the modem, nothing changed.)
please help, thanks !

Did the last response help your problem? If not, then look for an option that sounds something like 'Check for dialtone' or suchlike - from memory, I think it is somewhere in the modem properties section or the dialup connection properties. This will disable the check for the dialtone before dialling - I have changed it on several of my computers over the past few years, with various operating systems. Unfortunately I am at work and so I can't tell you exactly where it is on my current system :(
Hope it helps

I have a 5150 with the same BCM v.92 Modem and it also gives me a "line is busy" or a "Disconnected" error when I attempt to use the modem. I connect my Laptop to a LAN at work, but I only have Dial-up at home and that is when it messes up. I have read on a few other posts that the same problem seems to come up. Two such cases Involved Greece phone lines, but I have a hunch it's more internal.... I have no Idea how to correct the problem but help is needed.
