BlackBerry, Bluetooth and Latitude D820

My Latitude D820 can't communicate via BlueTooth with my BlackBerry 8700c. I'm told it's to do with the Toshiba stack and non-Microsoft BlueTooth driver. Does anyone know where to get a driver that will work, and how to install it? OS is XP Pro.

Hi,

Try using the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack instead of Toshiba Stack. The way you can do this is by Removing the Toshiba Stack from Add/Remove Programs. After which, go into device manager and remove the drivers for the bluetooth card and restart the computer. Microsoft Stack will take over at the next restart.

If it still doesnt work, try updating the firmware and drivers for the card from the dell support site. In btw, is the laptop able to see the handheld. If not make sure bluetooth is functional on handheld and is set to discoverable mode.

That worked perfectly!

Many thanks, Best-Try. I've been struggling with that one for a while.

All the best,

Currently, Bluetooth is supported by the following BlackBerry devices:

BlackBerry 7100 Series
BlackBerry 7250 Wireless Handheld™
BlackBerry 7290 Wireless Handheld™
BlackBerry 7520 Wireless Handheld™
BlackBerry 8700 Series of wireless handhelds

On your blackberry...
The location of the Bluetooth screen varies depending on the BlackBerry device model you are using and the theme you are running on your Blackberry device. Therefore, the Bluetooth screen can be accessed by clicking one of the following sequences from the Home screen:

Options > Bluetooth
Settings > Bluetooth
Settings > Options > Bluetooth
Tools > Settings > Bluetooth

Select the Bluetooth icon or menu item.
Click the trackwheel and select Options. The Bluetooth services available for your BlackBerry device are displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Available Bluetooth Services should be are:
Headset
Handsfree
Desktop Connectivity
Wireless Bypass

If any of the above Bluetooth services are missing, an IT Policy sent from a BlackBerry Enterprise Server has disabled the functionality.
You cannot remove IT policies from the handheld - even if you wipe it or reinstall the handheld software.

If your blackberry is still connected to the Enterprise Server:
Contact your system administrator to remove some restrictions, or to move you to a less restrictive IT Policy.
Contact your system administrator to send a blank IT Policy to the device. For more information, see KB-05106.
Wipe the device, then have an administrator add the device to a BlackBerry Enterprise Server with IT Policy settings that are less restrictive.

Once you have verified that the correct Bluetooth services are available on your blackberry...

Go to My Computer
Right click the white space where there are no icons
Select Properties
Click on the Harware Tab
Click the Dvice Manager button

In Device Manager Double Click Bluetooth Radios to expand the selection
Right click Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Module
Select Update Driver

Now you should be able to pair your blackberry and use Bluetooth to connect to the Desktop Manager for syncronization.
