Hi Cjcougar,
You should try to boot the computer to the Safe Mode and then attempt to uninstall the wireless drivers. See the below mentioned article for easy steps on how to uninstall the driver from Device Manager in Safe Mode:
How To Easily Remove Old Drivers from Windows
Once you have uninstalled the drivers in the Safe Mode, boot to the Normal Mode and then install the drivers from here.
You might find the below mentioned video useful:
Downloading and Installing Windows 7 Drivers in the Correct Order (the steps shown in the video applies for Windows XP as well).
