Blue screen, STOP: 0x0000008E, wsp_pkt.sys

Got a blue screen with the following STOP error...

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xEC607F60, 0xEEAF7BAC, 0xD0000000)

wsp_pkt.sys - Address EC........

I believe I may just have a corrupt wsp_pkt.sys driver (which the 'System Information' panel indicates is for 'Wireless Security Protocol'). Seems a little odd as I don't currently use wireless but did have quite a few issues setting up our Thompson SpeedTouch 330 USB ADSL modem.

Can anyone advise where I can get the latest version of the wsp_pkt.sys driver, to see if reinstalling it will help?

Cheers.

I am trying to assist somebody via email who has the same problem. Frequent BSODs pointing to this driver on a desktop system that doesn't have wireless connections.
I obtained a copy of the driver since I can't find any info on the Net and see it is written/provided by a company called SingleClick Systems.
I emailed them and attached a copy of the driver asking what gives.

I got an update from the SingleClick folks to say that the driver comes with Dell Network Assistant and that there is a fix out tomorrow (Friday 2nd February 2007). It should auto-update they tell me but I am getting them to send me the fix too.

The 'fix' I received a couple of hours ago was actually a link to a 'new' version of Dell Network Manager.

Here is what I was sent ......................

The new build is ready for download.  The best thing to do is to remove the current version and then install the new version.

- Remove current version with Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel of Windows
- Download and install the new version from this link

http://dell-downloads.singleclicksystems.com/hnm/ezi_hnm.exe

The odd thing is when I installed the file from this link it says it is Version 1.3 but I found and  downloaded/installed a version from the Dell website yesterday that said it was Version 1.5.

Neither version contains the problem driver wsp_pkt.sys.

I guess you have 3 options to attempt to resolve this problem.
1) If you don't use Dell Network Manager just uninstall it and forget about it.
2) Uninstall it and install the version on the Dell website
3) Uninstall it and install the version in the above link

Here is the answer to the Version number anomaly in Dell Network Manager

There is a version # alignment taking place at Dell, thus the reason for the rollback in version #'s.  Good pickup.  But 1.3 is the later release.
My work here is done.
