Bluetooth error code 54
hi! I have an Inspiron 7501 and i've noticed this error in the bluetooth Device Manager windows : This device has failed and is undergoing a reset. (Code 54). In fact, it happens that my bluetooth mice stop working when this error accurs. Restarting the system solved the problem only temporary. Someone knows a solution?
Thanks.

@T3knik
Thank you so much! It alleviates the long standing problem I've been having.
It doesn't fix it, because we know the driver is the issue. But at least when it happens. I can just go reset without having to stop all work and restarting machine.

@T3knik Thanks a ton. This was the first thing I tried and it worked like a charm.

I have had bluetooth problems witrh my XPS 9500 for over a month. At first the Bluetooth connection to the mouse would come and go. I tried a Logitech wireless (non Bluetooth) mouse and found that if I left the receiver installed my Bluetooth worked fine. After several days I began having problems again and found that the Bluetooth device had failed to start (error code 54). I have now rolled back the Bluetooth driver to 22.130.0.2. The bluetooth is working but my mouse is still intermittent. I plugged the mouse receiver in again and my connection to the Bluetooth mouse is snow constant. I believe the origin of the problem may have been Dell Support Assist which installed new drivers that cause the problem.
Dell needs to address this problem

@4Sluth yes this finally worked for me, thank you! Was doing my head in!!
Just a note though, I had to right click on 'Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)' in Device manager and do it via the 'Power Management' tab in Properties. Be aware though that this tab is only available if the Bluetooth is on. So you'll have to wait until it's connected before you can do this.
I also found that whenever it disconnected I almost always had a minor windows defender update to install. This power management setting seems to have cured all though. Thanks again!

@T3knik worked smoothly, thanks a lot!
in the times of chatGPT it would be easy for Dell to scan the proposed solutions, evaluate by the AI and offer as a crowdsourced alternative troubleshooter as well as notify their tech support or engineering.
just a simple thought here around the automation trends, that could make me buy a dell again, so I don't have to deal with these nuisance bugs having purchased a $4K+ laptop :)

@T3knik I have had this problem for so long and it bothers me way too often and drives me crazy because I use a Bluetooth mouse.
Could you please explain this in more detail? I followed the instructions and found the USB root hub (USB 3.0), but I can't disable it when I right-click on it!

I just realized why it didn't show the "Disable device" option! I have to remove my Dell USB-C to HDMI/USB adapter first! Then the optinon will be back! And after I followed the instruction, Bluetooth is back! Thank you for the help!

I solved the problem by installing old version of the Bluetooth driver : BT-23.100.1-64UWD-Win10-Win11.exe

My devices have been disconnecting more and more frequently, usually comes back after I click the bluetooth icon in the tray and pick 'show bluetooth devices' and then close it.
Then it stopped working all together. I tried rebooting, shutting down completely and turning back on, uninstalling and reinstalling, disabling and enabling and nothing worked.
I then installed the latest drivers from Intel as posted by someone here and it works again for now.
