Inspiron 5010 system is not tested with Windows 8 by Dell. There are no separate Windows 8 drivers available for the system. However, you may download and ‘Save’ the latest Windows 7 Bluetooth drivers on desktop and install the drivers in compatibility mode. Please follow the steps below:
Navigate to the saved file for Bluetooth drivers
Right click ‘Setup’ file and click ‘Properties’
Click ‘Install in compatibility mode’
Click Application and select ‘Troubleshoot Compatibility’
Next, click ‘Troubleshoot Program’
Click ‘Program worked in earlier versions of Windows’
Click ‘Windows 7’
Click ‘Start the Program’
Do not hit ‘Next’ until the installation completes
Once the installation completes, click on ‘Next’
If you are not sure about the Bluetooth card installed on the system, you may follow the steps below:
Press ‘Windows’ key + R on ‘Desktop’ screen.
Type ‘devmgmt.msc’ in run box and press ‘Enter’.
Click > sign next to ‘Network Adapters’.
Check for the Wireless/Bluetooth device.
Please share the model of Bluetooth card installed on the system.
Keep me posted with the findings. I will be glad to assist further.
and I tried it with Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module - Windows 7 its asking to activate Bluetooth by pressing Fn + F11 or Radio ON/OFF switch. I pressed Fn+ F11 then also its not working.......
Thank you for the reply. Please share the screenshot of device manager with ‘Network Adapters’ option expended. You may follow the same steps I provided you earlier.
You may press key to turn on the Wireless/Bluetooth radio on.
Keep me posted with the information. I will be glad to assist further.
As i see the system is not compatible with Win 8. However require more info to cnfrm. Can you help with the Service Tag. Would like to also know if you were able to use the bluetooth earlier. Did theOS for Win 8 come pre-installed or you installed it on your own?
