Bluetooth icon is not in Control Panel or SysTray, cannot get BlueTooth to run
My XPS-15 has a Bluetooth driver installed (Intel Centrino Wireless Bluetooth 3.0+ Highspeed Virtual Adaptor). But there is no Bluetooth icon in either SysTray or in Control Panel.
I looked in Device manager and there is a Bluetooth driver installed. When I tried to update it, Device Manager said it was the latest (14.2.0.5) version.
Fn F2 only enables WiFi, no mention of Bluetooth.
entering bttray in the command box results in no hits.
How can I get Bluetooth to run?

Hi Paulnine,
Thank you for providing the details. I have checked the system specifications and I noticed that the system was shipped with Intel WiFi Link 1000 Wireless-N Mini-Card which does NOT support bluetooth. Rick was right.
The Dell™ XPS™ L502X systems offer Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) and Bluetooth® 3.0 (BT) combination mini-cards:
Intel WiFi Link 6200 Wireless-N + Bluetooth 3.0 Mini-Card
Intel WiFi Link 6300 Wireless-N + Bluetooth 3.0 Mini-Card
You will need to get one of these cards for bluetooth to be working.
Please reply if you have any further questions.

i bought Dell Vostro 1540 on 22/9/2012 >> i have a problem with the bluetooth, i'm able to ON it and it is searchable and i'm able to find any device by it and find it by any device. but the problem is that i'm not able to establish a connection or send or recieve files.
the bluetooth with defined as generic bluetooth in the device manager but after i install the correc driver it defined as "Dell wireless 1701 bluetooth v3.0 +HS"
and i can found my searched devices in th my device window but can not send or recieve files

Satya P
Thanks for the suggestion, but the only hits i get from typing "Bluetooth" are "View Devices and Printers" and "Set up a connection or network"
I don;t get anything like a "Bluetooth settings" dialogue
Any thoughts?

Hi paulnine,
Please open Device manager and expand Network adapter. Please let me know the Wireless network adapter card model number that is listed. Click on my user name and add me as a friend, provide the system service tag, name of the owner and contact number. I will check the system hardware specifications and get back to you.

paulnine,
I do not see a Bluetooth adapter listed. The Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN adapter does not have Bluetooth.
If you click on the blue DELL-Satya P on the next page, start conversation with, please provide the service tag number and he can check to see if your system has Bluetooth adapter installed.

paulnine,
The service tag will tell if there was Bluetooth installed.
You can go to Dell Warranty Status enter your service tag number, then click on original configuration. Look and see if a Bluetooth adapter was installed.

PaulNine,
Some models, Dell selects the wirless adapters and some nodels the wireless adapter is optional.
Same goes for Bluetooth, Bluetooth is optional on many models. The newer adapters have Bluetooth built in them.
I do have shoes that do not have laces, they're slip on and they're very comfortable.
You options is to purchase a usb Bluetooth adapter or purchase a mini card adapter that has Bluetooth. INSTRUCTIONS HERE <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> to replace the mini card.
Rick
