Bluetooth not visible, Studio 1747, Win7
Hello everyone, I am new here...decided to seek help here after 3 days of internet research.
Problem: Just got used Studio 1747 with no OS. No Recovery discs. HD divided 2 partition. No Reconery partition.Loaded Win 7 Ultimate x64. All drivers from official Dell site. Chipset drivers were loaded first. Everything works perfect except Bluetooth.
BT enabled in Bios.
Switch set for "All" in Bios.
Driver : Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module Application, Version: A03-00 WP0000001228, OEM Version: 6.2.0.9603
Upon installation request to activate device with wirelss switch - Fn+F2 - no results - installation terminated.
From C:\dell\drivers\24T1W\R235168\Win64\svcpack opened SetupBluetoothDFU.exe - no result (dfu image file inadequate data for my device)
BT module physically present (checked!)
No Bluetooth in Device Manager.
In Mobility Center no Bluetooth and in Wireless WPAN checkbox visible but unavailable.
My Nokia C3 can see my machine but cannot connect.
I will highly appreciate any help.

Hi MORSUK,
It is likely that the Bluetooth card installed on the laptop is not enabled. I recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
1. Install Quickset application: Click the following link to install the quickset application for this laptop: http://dell.to/OuvYBM
After installation, try using (Function key + F2) to enable the Bluetooth. If that does not work, please try only F2
2. If Bluetooth is not enabled, enable the it with 'Windows Mobility Center'. Follow the steps below:

- Click 'Pearl' icon, and type 'windows mobility' in 'Search Programs & Files'
- Click 'Windows Mobility Center'
- The Windows Mobility Center window appears (as below)
- Click 'Turn Wireless On'
If 'Wireless' appears as on, please follow the next step.

3. Download and Install the Bluetooth driver again. Follow the steps listed below:
- Click http://dell.to/Ouz48T to access the latest Bluetooth card driver
- Click 'Get Driver' to download the driver
- Save the folder (zipped folder) on the 'Desktop screen'
- Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R235168.exe
- The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\24T1W
- Click Ok
- After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor window is still open, close it
- Open the following path: C:\dell\Drivers\24T1W\R235168\Win64 (Follow steps mentioned below)
- Locate file 'Setup' (Refer to the image below)
- Right click 'Setup' and 'run as an administrator'
- Click 'Yes' to continue if prompted with 'User access control' message
- If prompted to enable Bluetooth, please try (Fn+F2) and only F2 key if (Fn+F2) does not work
- Follow through with the installation and Finish
- Check if issue is fixed
- If the issue persists, Right click file 'Inst'
- Click 'Run as an administrator'
- Click 'Yes' to continue if prompted with 'User access control' message
- If prompted to enable Bluetooth, please try (Fn+F2) and only F2 key if (Fn+F2) does not work
- Follow through with the installation as per the screen instructions
- Finish the installation and check for the Bluetooth functionality
Hope this helps. Do reply if you have any further questions. I would be glad to assist.

I did follow all the instructions.
QuickSet was already installed.
Wireless is on in Mobility Center.
Downloaded new driver and extracted to 24T1W (Mine was A3-0, this one is A3-1).
Did run inst.exe from Win64 subdir.
During installation prompted to turn on BT by wireless switch.
Fn+F2 brings the wireless icons in lower right screen corner - activated "On". Tray status indicator shows wireless is on.
And here everything stops - dialog window blinks and again is stuck in the same stame state prompting to hit OK. Multiple OK with no results.
No bluetooth in Device Manager. No BT icon in Control Panel, no BT in Mobility Center.
IMPORTANT. disregard my last entry in the original post. The BT my Nokia detected was my wife's Dell, not mine! Sorry
Anyway - attempt unsuccesfull, no BT. Any further steps? :) ?

I did the following
:
Bios = BT enabled, wireless switch set to "All"
Device manager = BT NOT PRESENT!
Fn+F2= turns wireless on and off.
WWAN = in Radio window BT square is not accessable (I can on ly check or uncheck WiFi - and it is checked)
Power Plan= wireless set to high performance
Device Manager= "allow win. to turn this device off...." - unchecked for both: ethernet adapter and wireless adapter.
Reset Winsock= done
Bttray=used search, found it, clicked- nothing happened, checked all system icons - no BT listed!
Networking issues= this is where I did post my message - or didn't I ?
RESULT= stil no BT in device manager !!!
Thought= If it is enabled in BIOS and device manager cannot see it then it is problem either with the modle (broken??) or Windows 7 - assuming the module is OK what if I take the module out, start Windows, shut it down, place BT module back and turn Windows on. ???? Any chance that "installed windows" will see what it was unable to see during intallation????
Well...hoping this forum will find a solution (especially when Rick is on it) - I am almost ready to give up or to purchase a copy of original discs from Dell.

I got it to work on my studio by clicking start menu, typing or running bttray (bttray.exe) which then put the bluetooth icon in the tray. I could then click on it and turn on the bluetooth.

Hi, One year later and I have exactly the same problem after recently reinstalling Windows 7 as my studio was so slow it was unbelievable. I have exactly the same symptoms on my Studio and I cannot find any solution! Has this been finally resolved? I cannot find the definitive answer to this thread. Thanks.

I've just contacted Dell Phone Support, and was advised that if the above does not turn the BT on, then it means that the Bluetooth component in the laptop is faulty (like in my case); therefore a new one is needed. Hope this helps anybody who's got the same problem again.
