bluetooth problem ~ icon is red on systray and pressing Fn+F2 doesnt work!

Question

hi guys, i have a problem and would totally appreciate if anybody helps :)

i've searched and tried some solutions but not even one works for me. i've checked my VOSTRO 1500, the device manager states that the device is working properly. the bluetooth configuration however states that the device is not found. the LED lights on the other hand lights up although the icon is on the systray is red. pressing Fn+F2 doest work. and i've looked into the computers Bios already, to find that bluetooth is already enabled. when i go to my bluetooth places and click bluetooth setup wizard a popup comes up and states that no local bluetooth device was detected.

the bluetooth is pre-installed. it previously had worked, however I turned off the Bluetooth using msconfig (system configuration utility) so it wont start at startup ages ago (naughty me)...and now when i need it i cant use it even though i enabled it at startup. im using XP operating system and am currently stil on SP2 (upgrading was not the problem)

please help~if there is already a solved thread discussing this matter please direct me to it

You must have a BT device connected for blutooth to activate. Have you connected a device? The blutooth card in the computer is not a device. I assume you went back into msconfig and changed the setting and rebooted.

thanks mary G for the reply. unfortunately i think i already have a BT device connected as i haven't pulled any parts away,

*see the device manager list BT in it with no problems whatsoever*

and there was no need to attach a external device previously. i did try to go back to msconfig, rebooted but alas it did'nt work

~hum..will removing and reinstallling the whole BT device in add or remove program work??

if so, the BT driver is available in the DELL drivers and utilities cd right? *i really must ask~you never know what will happen*

here's what i get when i click enable BT radio by right clicking the BT icon on the systray

the device manager says that there is a device and it is working properly

but BT configuration (its the popup i get when i click advance configuration from the BT icon) says that non is detected

and when i go and click bluetooth setup wizard in my bluetooth places this popup apears:

I am having the exact same problem + all my USB ports are non functional . I will post back here if i find a solution .If anyone in the dell community can help please let me know . I have tried many things so far . I also have a question at yahoo answers with a description of my troubleshooting so far , Can add link if anyone wants to take a look ?
