Broadband card on Desktop

I want to use a verizon wireless broadband card on my Deimesion 2400 desktop.  How do I do this?

that very much depends upon the type of card you get. verizon broadband has two types: express cards and pc cards (also known as PCMCIA cards). if you are purchasing a PC card then you can go for a PC to USB adapter. the USB adapter plugs into the USB port on the computer and the card from Verizon goes into a slot in the adapter. but i have heard that these adapters are not very reliable when it comes to wireless PC cards so please do some research before you get one

You actually should not need a broadband card for your desktop and neither of these can be put in your desktop. Here is a link that explains the ExpressCards and PCMCIA cards and their size. The ExpressCard or a PCMCIA card are for portable computers so that they can access a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN). These are used by users of portable computers to be able to gain access to the internet through the use of towers like cell phones.

For your desktop you should have a built in Ethernet or NIC. This will be able to connect to a broadband connection via a DSL modem or Cable internet which ever you choose. You should check in your area to see which service can be used. Verizon may be a choice in your local area. Typically broadband service is provide by your cable company or your telephone company.

Is there some reason you want to have Verizon braodband service?

Why would you use a notebook card in your PC? Because you are not served by dsl or cable, You live on a farm or rural area. I have the verizon card and a network setup with 5 computers and wireless laptop.

There is nothing available where I live.  No cable and the phone company doesn't offer anything where I live.  The weird thing is I live 2 miles from the city limits.  I am in between to towns not in the booneys.  Thanks for all your help.  Thanks to all that helped.

Thanks for the great link.

I know that sometimes there is a need to do things like this and just wanted to make sure that this person was not being sold something they did not really need. That's all.

Again, thanks for the great link.

I have a Dimension 8400 Series Desktop at home

and I have a laptop that I just purchased the Verizon wireless card for it.  I want to use it on my desktop, also, when I am home because
now I am paying for DSL service at home for my desktop and wireless service for my laptop.  I want to only have wireless service for both and have only one payment for wireless instead of two payments ...
Because there is no card slot on my Dimension, can I use an adapter to accomplish this?
