Broadcom 440x 10/100 Controller vs. D-Link, Netgear and Linksys
In setting up a wired system from the router to the computer.
Is it better to use the Broadcom Ethernet connection on the
back of Dimension 2400, or it better to purchase ethernet cards
when you purchase router.
Are there any special problems to be aware of when using Broadcom
connection and router?

The Broadcom controller will work just fine. There should be no problems and there is not need to purchase a different network adapter.

Thanks to Volcano11 and NemesisDB for your help.
When I checked the system (2400 Dimension), it told me that I had a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller with a Ver. 3.60.0.0 Driver dated 5/15/03.
I notice that Dell has a new driver for Broadcom 4401 Integrated NIC v 3.63.A03 released 8/5/2003 should I update the driver or leave well enough alone till after getting the DSL working.
The reason I asked my question was of the problems people (forum) were having using various ethernet cards, connections, etc. and the recommendations that if you purchase all the same type of equipment, the problems are reduced.

you might get the latest drivers from broadcom.com ... personally I like broadcom second only to intel ethernet cards -- the the difference in price usually makes the broadcom the best price.
if you're on a super budget, realtek can be a good deal too
