Broadcom 570x controller won't install
I've read every related message on this board and googled for the solution, and I can't find it.
I reformatted my 600M-- it had not been used prior to formatting-- and installed WinXP Pro. I've installed all the updates and flashed the bios to A17. When I boot up, I get the message New Hardware Detected and Ethernet Controller. It can't find the drivers automatically; I tried downloading Dell's 570x drivers and installing them-- it'll install, but no card will pop up in Network Connections or in Device Manager. I tried using the Add Hardware to install the drivers directly, and my system locks up completely when copying b57xp32.sys to the Windows Drivers folder. I tried downloading the newer 570x drivers from Broadcom's website and using those; my system still locks up. The lights on the port-- they go yellow and orange, otherwise green right before the system locks up. I ran Dell's web system scanner-- under Network, it doesn't even list the Broadcom as an entry, only the wireless and the bluetooth. I checked the BIOS settings, and the onboard NIC is enabled. I've tried removing the drivers entirely, rebooting, and installing the Dell 570x drivers again.

I (and others) have been having the problems with this NIC for awhile now. Do an advanced search of the forums with "network broadcom 600m problem" and see what I mean.
My system no longer "sees" the NIC. Was sporadic at first, now I can no longer see it in device manager unless I view hidden devices.

Then, it appears, your system does not have "the bug" ours seems to have. It seems a small minority of the NIC Broadcom internal cards/chips have a problem. Long after mine stopped respomnding in Windows XP, the DOS based diagnostic run on boot with F12 saw it & it tested fine. Now it does not see it either.
