Can I connect a desktop

I’ve been running a D6000 dock with my work laptop for years, and now I want to use it with my gaming rig so that the same Ethernet cable, USB mouse, USB keyboard, USB webcam, USB headset, and Dell S3422DWG ultrawide monitor can be shared between the two systems—never simultaneously. Has anyone verified that I can plug every USB peripheral and the Ethernet cable into the dock and then feed that to the desktop as well? If so, which USB uplink on the desktop side should I choose? I’m anticipating that the Ethernet line will still have to reach the desktop via an extra switch. I also wonder how the monitor will behave when it would, in effect, have two connections to the gaming PC (one direct and one through the dock). My aim is to stop unplugging cables each time I switch machines; if the D6000 can make that effortless, all the better.
