Network:

This is happening with the WAP on my Test network and my Production network.  Let’s focus on the test network.  The WAP is connected to a Linksys SR2024 Switch for the Test Network.  The gateway is a Linksys BEFSR41.  My DHCP server is a Windows 2000 Advanced.  When I connect to the Access Point using the laptop I cannot browse the network or ping the gateway.  I get the error…

is not accessible.   You might not have permissions to use this network resource.   Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.

…I have been banging on this for a few days now and I am going crazy.  I can ping the DHCP server, the laptop shows in the DHCP console, and I can see the laptop from other machines on the network.  If I try to browse to it from one of those machines, I get the same error as above.  I can also connect to a machine via Start>Run \\ipaddress. Also, since I cannot connect to the gateway I cannot connect to the internet.   If I connect the laptop via the hard wire NIC everything works fine.  Oh and a brother laptop with Vista connects fine.  I have tried the following…

1)       Every type of encryption offered by the WAP

2)      Tried Wireless Zero Configuration and Dell Wireless WLAN Utility

3)      Tried different channels and SSID’s

4)      Hardware diagnostics of card all pass

5)      Can Ping Loopback and DHCP

6)      Windows Firewall are disabled all around

7)      Cleared Every Network related cache or Stack I could think of

8)      And a dozen other things I am forgetting to mention

I’m lost I cannot think of anything else to do…   I have this gut feeling that either I am missing something stupid and obvious or there is something obscure killing me here.  Any help would be greatly appreciated…

You mention the Windows Firewall, but  do you have any third party firewalls running on the machine that have not bee configured to allow local network access?

Hi I seem to have an adapter that is not enabled. Although my wireless shows connectivity, it does not take me to the internet. the two monitor icon is xed out. I am only able to use the laptop on internet if I switch cable from netgear from desktop to lap. I am not sure about firewalls but I do use system configuration to start or stop services and programs I do not want running such as the stupid Tudou download I cant seem to remove. Anyway if you can help me with what you achieved it would be appreciate.
