cannot connect to the internet

Question

I have a dell 8200 inspiron wirless card started acting up ..shutting down eventually wouildn't even read it so went to hard line and now when it starts up or I 'plug in' it says 'new hardware found' but as it goes through the install it says there is a ethernet control problem as in a driver needed. but when I look in systems I have a big yellow ? mark by the ehternet control any suggestions? Is it the motherboard or something else? I've tried to restore it to a date it was working but no go! Help Please!

Well ...installed this dirver and nothing ....keeps delivering me to the install new hardware wizard for the unknown ehternet controller and says it cannot find the driver from the disk or the file where I unzipped and installed this new driver. My 8200 is pretty old ...somewhere around 2001 not sure what to do next any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks

I have my hard drive partitioned can I just wipe the one side so I can back up the rest?  or will I have to back up all on an external before redoing?

If you have just the os on one partition then you just need to wipe and install your os. if you have data on that partition then you need to back it up.

so did the os process tells me it cannot start the driver code 10 ...any ideas
