Cannot "DISABLE" my Dell Wireless card -Dell 1505 Wireless...

Why was my last full post removed? Deleted?

My issue is the following - I cannot DISABLE my Dell wireless card -  I have been able to do so for years now -  All of a sudden I get an error message saying it cannot disable, protocools, not support plug and play...maybe another users or system.

I'm using XPS 720, XP system, IE 7.

For the record, I have talked with Dell Tech for 2 hours last night - They went over my computer couldn't solve it -

I have done unistall / reinstall. Same issue.

 lloyd95,

Probably because there were no words in the body.

Is the wireless adapter enabled in the BIOS?

What do you see in the device manager?

Do you have Dell QuickSet installed to allow the function keys, like F2, FN and F2 or the swithc on the side, to turn the adapter on/off?

1. Yes, my wiresless adapter is enabled in BIOS.

I have been using this computer with this wireless 1505 Dell card for 3 years. Always have been able to simply right-click / disable option on the task bar. Until 2 days ago.  Now get that error message (same message i've seen others say when I googled this problem).  Though there appears to be no solid answer to it.

2. In Device Mgr I see under Adapters 3 items

1394 Net Adapter

Broadbam extreeme 57xx Gig Controler

Dell Wireless 1505 Mini card

From the device Mgr I CAN DISABLE IT.   But this is not as simple as being able to do it through the task bar (like I always have been).

lloyd95,

See if this will work.

Right click on Task Bar, Left click Properties, Notification Area, customize, network, show icon and notifications, click ok
